Blehm’s Wedding at Greenhouse in Springfield, MO

This was my second wedding I got to shadow for 2024! I traveled to Springfield, Missouri for this and got to shadow a fellow photographer friend that I met at a photography retreat in the beginning of the year.

This was a bigger and longer wedding compared to my first one, so I got to see how a traditional wedding could run with a bridal party which was super fun! I loved seeing all the matching colors and energy the bridal party was bringing to the table during the day.

While shadowing, I got to see how the schedule ran and see how the main photographer interacted with the couple, bridal party, and guests while shooting. I liked interacting with the couple, getting to know them, and capturing both posed and candid moments of them, families, friends, and guests throughout the day.

I learned that setting more time for yourself is better so you’re not going to be in a time crunch. It turned out, we were ahead of schedule the entire day and didn’t feel hurried while shooting pictures for both sides of the bridal party and with the couple before and after the ceremony. We had a lot of down time to double check details, converse with the bride and groom, and get more moments of them with their bridesmaids and groomsmen before the ceremony without rushing.

Another thing I enjoyed was getting insight when I had questions about the details, poses and prompts, and camera settings from the main photographer. She lead the day and whenever I had an idea or question, she was open to hearing me out. I felt more comfortable during the day with shooting or asking if I could do a pose for the couple, and got some great candid shots too.

The couple themselves were sweet and bright individuals, and I liked seeing the excitement on their faces and seeing them have fun with their close friends and family too while celebrating.

Throughout the day, the weather was beautiful and the venue they chose was also stunning. It was at the Greenhouse venue and the whole place was decorated with greenery and white roses too.
